At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m., Jersey City police responded to a crash between a motorcycle and sedan, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

The motorcycle operator, a 14-year-old boy, suffered a serious injury to a lower extremity, Suarez said. The sedan, operated by Nicholas Ortiz, did not remain on the scene, Suarez said.

Ortiz was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision resulting in serious bodily injury, endangering an injured victim, and tampering with physical evidence

He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance, Suarez said.
